Number One Bruton is a remarkable house, set around a beautiful, south-facing courtyard designed by Penelope Hobhouse. Its origins are medieval and it was formerly part of a large coaching inn called the White Hart – the property has been in constant use for over 500 years.
Please note: the fresh farmhouse breakfast that is served every morning at Osip between the hours of 8:00 – 10:00am is included in the price of your room.
The rich palette of colours used in the main house, wooden panelling, aged elm flooring and lavish furnishings recall Georgian glory days. The house has beautiful architectural features; muralled, curved walls with curlicue stairs that wind up to the eaves rooms; the bannister and its leaf-motif decoration forged within the forge at the back of the property.

The workshop history of the cottages is reflected in exposed beams, warm oaks and quarry-tiled floors. Robust finishes are softened by jute and wool rugs and heavily patterned Morris textiles which evoke the arts and crafts movement and a return to nature. All cottages are pet friendly but please read our dog policy carefully before booking.

The bones of this building are 12thCentury. Industrial finishes: ancient, exposed beams, lime plaster, original stone walls and crittal windows are softened by cosy rugs and ticking stripes; bursts of fun and colour are carefully woven in to the details of each room.
