We are a 2.5 hour drive from London – you can find directions on our website in the contact section.

Bruton is a small town but there are places to park, there is a free car park directly behind the hotel on Higher Backway and we have spaces in Godminster car park too.

Check-in is any time after 3:00pm (you are welcome to leave your bags at reception).

Check-out is any time before 11:00am (you are welcome to leave your bags at reception).

Yes, we do:
Townhouse 1 and Cottage 1 have large, comfy sofa beds that can easily fit two small children – we can also put a cot in your room and we have z-beds too. Please do contact us if you have any questions.

The cottage rooms at Number One Bruton are dog friendly. We charge a £20.00 surplus per doggy guest to cover extra cleaning etc.

To keep all of our guests and dogs happy, the following guidelines have been put in place:
Pets are not allowed in to Number One Bruton’s restaurant – Osip;
Pets should always be kept on a lead or in a carrier in public areas;
Pets must be supervised at all times;
Parents should pick up any ‘deposits’ left by their pets;
Please make every effort to keep your pets from barking indoors;
Guide dogs are, of course, welcome throughout the hotel;
We will supply your dog with a bed and bowls;

If your dog is responsible for any damage within the hotel then you will be charged for repair/damage.

 

COVID FAQs

COVID-19 Preparedness Update
Your health and wellbeing are our priority, and we’re following best practices as advised by the Government.

If you have to change your travel plans due to travel restrictions or any other reason please just let us know as soon as you can. We are flexible and ready to help. You can change / cancel your reservation with no charge if you are able to give us 24 hours’ notice.

If we are forced to close the hotel due to CV-19 then we will transfer or cancel your booking at no charge.

CV-19 has left us all a little bit shaken and worried about things that would usually have not bothered us at all – so we are doing everything that we can to take the anxiety out of travelling to a home away from home. First of all, if you're not feeling 100%, stay at home (unlike Dominic Cummings). If you feel a little bit under the weather, please don’t shake it off and come anyway – err on the side of caution, get yourself checked out before you check in.

We are changing check-in to minimise your contact with us – we are going to ask all of our guests to pre-pay and give us their ETA ahead of time, that way your keys and welcome pack will be waiting when you arrive, that’s not to say that we won’t be on site to help and advise you at any time – we just don’t want to hover unless you need us to!

Your room will have been cleaned, sanitized and sealed before you arrive and, once you are here and safely checked in we will not bother you.

We will only service your room at your request and this will be done by a fully trained member of staff who is wearing the right PPE and using the correct cleaning equipment.

Room keys will be sanitized with UV-C sanitizing machines before distribution.

Face masks, hand sanitizer, and COVID-19 information available for all guests upon check-in. We will have extra gloves and sanitizing wipes if you forget yours.

There will be small individual UV-boxes in each room for you to sanitize your personal effects (telephones, keys etc.)

We will remove all high-touch amenities from the rooms.

Where possible, doors and windows will remain open to increase fresh air flow.

Anything that is left in your room will have been sanitized using either UV machines or disinfectants (or BOTH!).

If there is anything that you need that you can’t find, please ask us – we keep various single use necessities behind the front desk (i.e toothbrushes).

All single use or disposable items in rooms will be removed and disposed of following each guest.

All laundry and linens are cleaned following government issued guidelines.

Employees will be temperature checked at the start of every shift.

Employees will be fully trained on CV-19 safety and sanitation protocols.

All of our staff will be wearing the correct PPE.

You will see us in action, from propping doors open as weather allows, sanitizing all surfaces regularly and wearing gloves when servicing your room.

Please don’t be alarmed if you see us in action; from propping doors / windows open (as the weather in Somerset allows) there will be also be extra cleaning of the public spaces including the front desk and reception area, entrance doors and handrails, public bathrooms, dining surfaces and seating areas.

We are introducing motion activated hand sanitizing dispensers in all public spaces.

We are introducing physically distant configurations in public spaces and restaurants – this might mean that our sitting room has to remain shut temporarily.

Our hotel is perfectly situated in the little town of Bruton. Our hotel can only take a maximum of 20 guests and the rooms are large and airy; there is plenty of room to breathe. Our cottage rooms have their own entrances and there is a spacious courtyard garden with appropriately distanced chairs and tables, the open cobbled courtyard leads to a huge, medieval back gate so you can just slip out in to the countryside and come back as you see fit.

Bruton is perfect walking / cycling country: strike out from the hotel to climb up to the dovecote and look out over the medieval streets of the town; go to King Alfred’s Tower and walk in the rambling grounds of Stourhead; amble to the gardens at Hauser & Wirth;
or nip to The Newt. Best of all, embark on a mini-adventure by taking one of the numerous public footpaths that lead you out of Bruton and in to the lush rolling countryside.

It is a 45-minute drive to the seaside towns of Lyme Regis, West Bay and Hive in Dorset where you can buy fish and chips and stroll along the beach hunting for fossils.

The Mendip Hills and Cranbourne Chase, both areas of outstanding natural beauty, are a short drive from the hotel.

We have walking maps and advice aplenty for when you arrive!

You will be able to choose whether you have your breakfast in your bedroom or in the restaurant. Your morning treats will be delivered to you in a little basket.

If you would like to make a lunch or a dinner reservation at Osip PLEASE CONTACT THEM DIRECTLY (osiprestaurant.com or info@osiprestaurant.com). They are a small restaurant having to implement social distancing measures so they have a different procedure to our own.

You might also order some delicious takeaway or one of the fabulous pizzas from At the Chapel. Roundhill Grange the sister site of the Roth Bar and Grill will be hosting outside supper clubs. And, at Hauser & Wirth you will be able to get ice cream, cakes and snacks to eat out on their terrace.

Please check that these restaurants / takeaways are open – things are subject to change.

It goes without saying:
Be responsible and courteous;
Please practice physical distancing in shared spaces;
Please limit person-to person contact;
Please use all available sanitizing stations;
Properly dispose of used PPE;
If you cough or sneeze, please do it into your elbow or a napkin;
Please wear a mask when interacting with staff and in all public spaces;
